  • The officers of the city are the six council members, the mayor, the city treasurer, the city attorney, the city clerk, and the director of public safety. The mayor and council members shall be elected by direct vote of the electors of the city in accordance with city ordinances and state statutes. All other officers shall be appointed by the mayor and an interview committee made up of at least two members of the city council, subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the city council and serve at the pleasure of the council. Each officer appointed shall hold office until terminated or until his/her successor is appointed, whichever first occurs. All other department heads shall not be regarded as officers of the city. They shall be appointed or removed at the discretion of the mayor.
